Organize teaching documents with folders
Create folders, rename documents, move files, and use grid or list view to organize lesson materials in Sparkclass.
Create a simple folder structure
Open Files and use New → New folder. You can also create a folder from the context menu. Start with a structure you will recognize during a busy school day, such as grade, unit, and lesson.
For example: Grade 5 → Fractions → Adding fractions. Avoid extra levels when one clear folder name is enough.
Name files for later retrieval
Right-click a document or folder and choose Rename. Use names that distinguish the topic and purpose, such as “Adding fractions — homework” and “Adding fractions — exit ticket.”
New names may appear before a save finishes. If a save fails, resolve the error before closing the page or assuming the change reached your account.
Move materials into folders
Drag a document into a folder to organize it. Folders can also be moved into other folders. A folder cannot be moved into itself or its own descendants.
Use the breadcrumb path to navigate back to a parent folder. Grid view emphasizes previews, while list view is useful for scanning names and edited dates.
Search and delete carefully
Click the search icon to expand the search input. Clear the query if expected files are missing from the results.
Use the context menu to delete an item when you no longer need it. Do not assume that deleting a recent task and deleting a document are the same operation, or that deleted items can always be restored.
